Did you see The Star paper on Wednesday? (: Flip to the Star Two section and you'll know why! :D Yes people! Cheer 2009 is coming! =D And its the 10th anniversary which means bigger prizes, more sponsors, more online contests, a post-cheer party and of course more cheerleading teams participating! =D Can you feel the competitiveness? (; I got feedback from a cheer friend that the finals will be on the 4th & 5th July 09... So be ready everyone! X-plodetes, its time to buck up and show them all we've got.. ;)

Snippets from STARTWO cheer 2009 article.. (:

Cheer has definitely helped change people’s mindset about this sport, heck, it wasn’t even recognised as a sport.

"I believe Cheer allowed Malaysians to be more open to the idea of cheerleading as more than just a bunch of schoolgirls in short skirts jumping around on the field,” says Roshni Kaur, whose team, Cyrens, was the first runner-up at Cheer 2000.

-SO TRUE Y'ALL! DONT LABEL US AS BITCHY GIRLS WITH SHORT SKIRTS JUST CUZ YOU WATCHED THEM MOVIES WHICH DEPICTS CHEERLEADERS AS DUMB, EYE-CANDY!-

She adds that Cheer also gives young cheerleaders a good outlet for their energy and time.

“Everyone loves to dance, and cheerleading is a combination of dancing and gymnastics. Cheer gave us the reason and motivation to want to do this."

Cheer has helped cheerleading become cool and the great news is that it has encouraged many to take to the sport.

-CHEERLEADING IS DEFINITELY A SPORT!-

"Leadership, responsibility, discipline, commitment, team work and perseverance are just some of the qualities cheerleading brings out in you.

“Cheer definitely did that for me. It also keeps young cheerleaders fit and well- rounded. It helps them practise time management as they have to manage their studies, cheerleading and other activities,” adds Yee Ming, who is now a cheerleading coach.

-CHEERLEADING BENEFITS OUTWEIGHS THE RISKS IN MY OPINION (:-

.... Cheer builds team and school spirit, and brings the students closer together,”

-TOO TRUE! (;-
