Oh yea last Saturday when i was getting ready to leave the house for Cheer practice, i realise there's a bloody frog in my shoe.. FUCK! =X Actually i DIDN'T realise it at first.. I wasnt wearing socks and i just slipped my feet into my shoes first (not wearing them properly) cuz I always wear it in the car on my way there.. Then when i got into the car and waited for my mum, i hear a CROAK! And something wet bubbling on my toes... I think it might be the frog spitting whatever water vapour or something... x) So of course i jump out of the car and yells "There's a fucking frog in my shoe!!!!" loud enough to wake the whole neighbourhood.. They were probably peering through their windows checking who the hell is cursing first thing in the morning... Whoops. xD So mum came and saved my morning.. (: Love you mum! She threw my shoe and out falls the damn creature.. Brrr* And the stupid thing just hops away all innocence.. If i were braver i would have picked it up and kept it till i see a snake around my garden to feed it to.. Just like that time in school... :D Awww poor frog.. Forced to play dead in the same cage as the cobra.. WAKAKAKAKA.. I dont care.. Atleast the cobra has something to eat.. Hmph.. :P Yea this frog in shoe thing has been going on since i was still studying in Seri Suria.. -.- Its been like 6/7 times already!! Why choose MY SHOE? *fumes* I even accidentally compressed one till it died.. Without me knowing of course.. And when i removed my shoe, there it was dead and flattened with its blood all over my sock.. R.I.P...... Since then i always think that Ive killed my prince Charming... :(((( Which must be why ive never dated.. xD Dang frog cursed me! x((((

Okay moving on... =D Saturday evening, means BALLET CLASS! =DDDD And we are still learning the steps for Swan Lake.. Its going really slow actually.. =( Because we have like more than 30 of us in the class... :( hahaa.. Oh well.... And dear Celine announces that the exam results ARE OUT!!!! Her aunt has already got her school's results in Penang.. Ms. Wendy tried calling Zafriah or whatever her name is x), but she's not answering her phone.. Obviously due to the news that results were out and she's the one handling the distribution of it, she doesnt want anxious ballet teachers to clog her phone line day and night asking about the results.. So i guess we in the meantime, give her breathing space and wait..... :(( and wait...... =( and wait..... D: and wait again... T.T 2 whole weeks of not having ballet class due to term break.. 2 whole weeks before i get to know my results... Privately its best if i DONT know cuz i dont WANT to know.. lol.. x) Im sooo terrified... But I know i'll be disappointed yet again.. Cuz im a perfectionist and we are never happy with what we have although its as good as we could have hoped for.. (: Proud to be one.. xD

To Celineeeeeeeeeeeeeee (:

Since im not gonna be seeing you for 4 weeks!! =(((( Will miss ya!! xoxoxoxoxoxo

HAHAHHAA.. I had nothing to do.. x) MISS YOU! =)

THE NUTCRACKER BALLET

Hmmm... So i just found out that The Dying Swan is NOT from the original ballet of Swan Lake but is a separate ballet piece from Swan Lake..
The Dying Swan is not part of The Swan Lake. It was composed for Anna Pavlova and w/ Saint-Saens`music.Pavolova was very much interested in expressing feelings through ballet. The Swan Lake`s music is by Tchaikovsky. ~irine2007~

I found this out on youtube.. =X

Thank you irine2007! =DDDD hahahhaa...

THE NUTCRACKER BALLET

The Nutcracker (Russian: Щелкунчик, Shchelkunchik) Op. 71, is a fairy tale-ballet in two acts, three scenes, by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed in 1891–92. Alexandre Dumas père's adaptation of the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E.T.A. Hoffmann was set to music by Tchaikovsky (written by Marius Petipa and commissioned by the director of the Imperial Theatres Ivan Vsevolozhsky in 1891). In Western countries, this ballet has become perhaps the most popular ballet, performed primarily around Christmas time.

The composer made a selection of eight of the more popular numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on 19 March 1892 at an assembly of the St. Petersburg branch of the Musical Society[1]. The suite became instantly popular; the complete ballet did not achieve its great popularity until around the mid-1960s.

Among other things, the score of The Nutcracker is noted for its use of the celesta, an instrument that the composer had already employed in his much lesser known symphonic ballad The Voyevoda (premiered 1891).^ Although well-known in The Nutcracker as the featured solo instrument in the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" from Act II, it is employed elsewhere in the same act.

Summary from Wikipedia

The story has been published in many book versions including colourful children-friendly versions. The plot revolves around a German girl named Clara Stahlbaum or Clara Silverhaus. In some Nutcracker productions, Clara is called Marie. (In Hoffmann's tale, the girl's name actually is Marie or Maria, while Clara - or "Klärchen" - is the name of one of her dolls.)

Act I

The work opens with a brief "Miniature Overture", which also opens the Suite. The music sets the fairy mood by using upper registers of the orchestra exclusively. The curtain opens to reveal the Stahlbaums' house, where a Christmas Eve party is under way. Clara, her little brother Fritz, and their mother and father are celebrating with friends and family, when the mysterious godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer, enters. He quickly produces a large bag of gifts for all the children. All are very happy, except for Clara, who has yet to be presented a gift. Herr Drosselmeyer then produces three life-size dolls, which each take a turn to dance. When the dances are done, Clara approaches Herr Drosselmeyer asking for her gift. It would seem that he is out of presents, and Clara runs to her mother in a fit of tears and disappointment.
Drosselmeyer then produces a toy Nutcracker, in the traditional shape of a soldier in full parade uniform. Clara is overjoyed, but her brother Fritz is jealous, and breaks the Nutcracker.
The party ends and the Stahlbaum family go to bed. While everybody is sleeping, Herr Drosselmeyer repairs the Nutcracker. Then Clara wakes up and sees her window open. When the clock strikes midnight, Clara hears the sound of mice. She wakes up and tries to run away, but the mice stop her. Alternatively, perhaps Clara is still in a dream: the Christmas tree suddenly begins to grow to enormous size, filling the room. The Nutcracker comes to life, he and his band of soldiers rise to defend Clara, and the Mouse King leads his mice into battle. Here Tchaikovsky continues the miniature effect of the Overture, setting the battle music predominantly in the orchestra's upper registers.

A conflict ensues, and when Clara helps the Nutcracker by holding the Mouse King by the tail or throwing her shoe at the Mouse King, the Nutcracker seizes his opportunity and stabs him. The mouse dies. The mice retreat, taking their dead leader with them. The Nutcracker is then transformed into a prince. (In Hoffmann's original story, and in the Royal Ballet's 1985 and 2001 versions, the Prince is actually Drosselmeyer's nephew, who had been turned into a Nutcracker by the Mouse King, and all the events following the Christmas party have been arranged by Drosselmeyer in order to break the spell.)

Clara and the Prince travel to a world where dancing Snowflakes greet them and fairies and queens dance, welcoming Clara and the Prince into their world. The score conveys the wondrous images by introducing a wordless children's chorus. The curtain falls on Act I.

Act II

Clara and the Prince arrive at the Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Sugar Plum Fairy and the people of the Land of Sweets dance for Clara and the Prince in the dances of Dew Drop Fairy, the Spanish dancers (sometimes Chocolate), the Chinese dancers (sometimes Tea), the Arabian dancers (sometimes Coffee), the Russian dancers (sometimes Candy Canes--their dance is called the Trepak), Mother Ginger and her Polichinelles (sometimes Bonbons, Taffy Clowns, or Court Buffoons in Baryshnikov's production), the Reed Flutes (sometimes Marzipan shepherds or Mirlitons), the Sugar Plum Fairy, and the Waltz of the Flowers. The dances in the Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy are not always performed in this order.

After the festivities, Clara wakes up under the Christmas tree with the Nutcracker toy in her arms and the curtain closes. (In Balanchine's version, however, she is never shown waking up; instead, after all the dances in the Kingdom of Sweets have concluded, she rides off with the Nutcracker/Prince on a Santa Claus-like flying sleigh, complete with reindeer, and the curtain falls. This gives the impression that the "dream" actually happens in reality, as in Hoffmann's original story. The 1985 Royal Ballet version seems to imply the same thing, since at the end, Drosselmeyer's nephew, who had really been transformed into a nutcracker, reappears in human form at the toymaker's shop.)

DON QUIXOTE =D

Here's the summary and other info on the ballet repertoire Don Quixote.. The details are pretty easy to find as it is a famous ballet.. Enjoy! :)

Don Quixote is a ballet originally staged in four acts and eight scenes, based on an episode taken from the famous novel Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes. Originally choreographed by Marius Petipa to the music of Ludwig Minkus. First presented by the Ballet of the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow, Russia on 26 December [O.S. 14 December] 1869. Petipa and Minkus revised the ballet in far more expanded and elaborated edition in five acts and eleven scenes for the Imperial Ballet, first presented on 21 November [O.S. 9 November] 1871 at the Imperial Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre of St. Petersburg.

All modern productions of the Petipa/Minkus ballet are derived from the version staged by Alexander Gorsky for the Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow in 1900, a production the Ballet Master staged for the Imperial Ballet of St. Petersburg in 1902.

As performed by the Kirov Ballet, St. Petersburg Russia.

Act I – Scene One

A room in Don Quixote's house. The servants are talking about their master. They consider he has lost his reason, because he fancies he is a knight and sees imaginary enemies everywhere.
The servants believe all his vagaries to be the result of too much reading of tales of chivalry. They burn Don Quixote's books, hoping to save their master in that way.

Don Quixote enters. As usual, he is engrossed in a book. following excitedly the varying fortunes of the characters. The servants hide.

Don Quixote carefully collects the volumes that have escaped destruction, and becomes engrossed in a book again. Presently he falls asleep.

In his sleep he sees visions of knightly tournaments, he rescues a damsel in distress and wins her warm gratitude.

But the fat glutton, Sancho Panza, rushing in, breaks up his dream. Sancho has stolen a goose somewhere, and the exasperated housewives are in hot pursuit. Don Quixote, awakened by the noise, turns the angry women out of the room.

An idea comes to Don Quixote to make Sancho his squire. They will set out together in search of adventure they will defend virtue and punish all violators of the code of chivalry. Sancho Panza at first hesitates, but, in the end, consents, won over by a promise of plentiful food.

Don Quixote displays his armor and tests the strength of his helmet by striking it with his sword. But the very first blow shatters it to pieces.

This does not in the least disconcert Dun Quixote. A shaving basin may serve for a helmet! He arrays himself in his armor, and, seizing a ludicrously long spear, orders Sancho Panza to follow him.

Act I – Scene Two

In front of Lorenzo's inn, in Barcelona, a holiday crowd has gathered. Here, too, is the merry flirt, Quiteria (Kitri), the daughter of the innkeeper, and her lover Basil, the barber. To tease Quiteria, he is over-attentive to her friends.

Lorenzo catches his daughter kissing Basil and forbids them ever to meet again; he won't have any penniless suitors. In vain Quiteria tells her father how much she loves Basil, Lorenzo is inexorable and turns the barber out of the house.

Camacho, a rich pompous nobleman, walks in, resplendent in his brocaded clothes. The crowd jeers at him. He has come to ask for the hand of the beautiful Quiteria. Lorenzo is happy to have so highborn a gentleman for a son-in-law, but to Quiteria the idea of marrying him is detestable. The innkeeper is shocked at his daughter's impertinent manner of behavior to Camacho.

A street dancer enters, cheered heartily by the crowd. The girl is eagerly expecting the arrival of Espada, the famous toreador. Espada makes his appearance, accompanied by other toreadors. They dance, flourishing their cloaks, enacting scenes from a bullfight.

At the appearance of an extraordinary-looking horseman, the people are struck with astonishment.

Sancho Panza blows a horn to announce the arrival of the knight- errant of La Mancha. Lorenzo welcomes the traveler courteously and invites him to have some refreshment.

The girls seize the opportunity to have a bit of run by playing tricks on the fat squire. They start a game of blind-man's-buff. After that, the poor harried Sancho becomes sport for the men who toss him up into the air.

Sancho screams for help. Don Quixote comes to his rescue, armed with a huge toasting-fork and a plate for a shield.

The knight sees Quiteria and is struck by her beauty. Was it not she who has haunted his dreams as the beautiful Dulcinea? In rapture, Don Quixote bends his knee to her and asks her to dance a minuet with him. To annoy Basil, Quiteria graciously accepts the invitation, coquettishly imitating the manners of a fine lady.

While no one is looking, Sancho steals a fried fish from the kitchen and is about to slip away, but the scullions give chase and catch the thief.

Amidst the general confusion, Quiteria and Basil slip away unobserved.

Act II – Scene One

Fleeing from Lorenzo and Camacho, the two lovers, Quiteria and Basil, wander into a gypsy camp.

The gypsies dance for their guests. A girl informs them of the approach of a queer-looking horseman, Don-Quixote. Basil and Quiteria meet him like good old friends.

The gypsies invite Don Quixote to attend a play they are about to perform. He takes what is going on upon the stage for actual facts, and rushes, sword in hand, to rescue the unhappy heroine; the improvised theatre is destroyed. The frightened actors and spectators scatter in all directions.

The turning sails of a windmill, then, catch Don Quixote's eye. They are the arms of giants! Don Quixote attacks the windmill. His clothes get caught on a sail; he is first swung up into the air, then hurled to the ground.

Quiteria and Basil attend to his injuries. They spend the rest of the night near the gypsies' caravan.

Act II – Scene Two

Don Quixote is tormented by a nightmare. In his sleep he sees a huge spider crawl out of a dark, dense forest. The knight attacks the monster boldly and overpowers its at the same moment the forest in transformed into the bright kingdom of the dryads. Among them is Quiteria who has assumed the form of Dulcinea, the queen of his heart.

Cupid presents Don Quixote to the Queen of the dryads. The nymphs are grateful to him for rescuing them from the power of the monster, and dance for their deliverer.

Act II – Scene Three

Dawn breaks, Quiteria and Basil wake up only just in time, for Lorenzo and Camacho are close upon them. The lovers flee. Don Quixote, their protector, sends Lorenzo and Camacho on a false trail.

Act III

People gather for a fiesta at an inn. Quiteria and Basil, having given the slip to Lorenzo and Camacho, have also come here to take part in the merrymaking.

The toreador and the dancer. Mercedes, enter, hailed heartily by the crowd.
The innkeeper warns Quiteria of her father's approach, Quiteria tries to escape, but her father overtakes her and drags her to Camacho to give them his parental blessing at their betrothal. Camacho kneels before Quiteria.

Basil, seeing this, stabs himself and falls to the ground. Quiteria rushes to him. She guesses at once, that be is feigning, but the sly girl begs Don Quixote to go to Lorenzo and persuade him to grant Basil's dying wish - to give them his parental blessing. Basil is sure to die Why not ease his last moments?

Camacho protests, but is driven out unceremoniously. At Don Quixote's earnest entreaty, Lorenzo blesses the lovers.

The next instant. Basil jumps to his feet and kisses the astounded Lorenzo.

The merrymaking at the inn continues for a long time.

Act IV

Lorenzo, assisted by the scullions, the maid servants and Quiteria's friends, is completing preparations for the wedding feast.

Don Quixote is the guest of honor. Lorenzo keeps wondering how Don Quixote has contrived to deceive him, to make him reject the rich suitor and let the poor barber marry his daughter.
The innkeeper, donning a suit of armor, challenges Don Quixote in jest. Don Quixote bravely takes up the challenge of the Unknown Knight, but falls to the ground the moment their swords cross.

The merrymaking goes on. The happy lovers dance for Don Quixote, to whom they owe their happiness.

Now, that his benevolent mission is completed, the knight-errant may go on his way. He rides off, amidst shouts of gratitude.

According to library.thinkquest.org

Prologue: Don Quixote, who is obsessed with stories of medieval chivalry, tells his servant Sancho Panza that he has decided to become a knight errant and improvises a suit of armor.
Act I: In a marketplace in Barcelona Kitri is forced by her father, an innkeeper, to accept the offer of marriage of the rich Gamache and turn away Basil, the man she loves. Then Don Quixote arrives at the inn on Rosinante, his horse. He believes he recognizes in Kitri his "loved and idealized" lady Dulcinea.

Act II: Don Quixote challenges Gamache to a duel but is mocked and chased away. Back in Barcelona Basil fakes suicide and asks Kitri's father with his "dying breath" for Kitri's hand in marriage. Thinking Basil is dying Kitri's father agrees, at which point Basil stops pretending to die and is happily united with Kitri. Meanwhile, out among the windmills, Don Quixote pays homage to the Gypsy King and joins in dances organized to mock him. Afterwards he attacks the marionettes of a traveling puppet show as if they were enemy soldiers, and taking the windmills to be hostile giants, charges at them.

Act III: after being wounded in "combat," Don Quixote retires to the woods to rest, where he falls asleep with Sancho. While asleep, Don Quixote dreams that he is in Dulcinea's garden, which is inhabited by fantastic beings. While there he fights and conquers a giant spider and sees his lady. But then the dream fades away. Now, Don Quixote marches with the Duke and is invited to the Duke's castle.

Act IV: At the castle festivities are held in Don Quixote's honour. He is challenged to a duel and horribly defeated by the "Knight of the Silver Moon" who is really just Don Quixote's old friend Carrasco, who makes Don Quixote promise to "sheathe his sword for at least a year." Don Quixote is disappointed but faithful to his word and returns home.

Don Quixote is an energetic ballet with a lot of allegro movements and jumps. As the case of La Esmeralda, when one thinks of Don Quixote, red dresses, fan and castanets come to mind; and they are the trademarks that make Don Quixote and Kitri soo special. A tale of a love story between Basil and Kitri, i really wonder why the story is entitled Don Quixote.. =X Yes he is the main character of the story, but a lot of the attention is focused on Basil and Kitri and their dilemma of struggling to be with each other.. But who cares.. ;) The choreography is superb and fun! :D I cant wait to see Hwey Ling dance this.. Lol.. Her grand jetes are =O... Hahaha... x)

LA ESMERALDA =)

So I've been researching the story and plot of the La Esmeralda ballet.. And it proves very elusive and after hours of hard work, i came up with the following excerpts from various sources to string together the whole picture.. I could not get a very detailed summary nor song structure for the ballet.. Sadly, many ballet lovers like me have been questioning the existence of the full La Esmeralda ballet video.. But most seem to think that there isnt one because the old works were 'lost' or simply no one bothered to post a full video of the ballet.. The summary of La Esmeralda is also proving elusive, with no details of the acts and scenes of the ballet unlike my previous post of Swan Lake. Or maybe because I havent looked deep enough or Ive been searching at the wrong places.. So i shall continue looking further.. (: And hopefully by the end of this post, I may have found it.. ;)

La Esmeralda is a ballet in 3 acts, 5 scenes, inspired by Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo, originally choreographed by Jules Perrot; with music by Cesare Pugni and design by William Grieve (scenery), D. Sloman (machinery), Mme. Copere (costumes).

It was first presented by the Ballet of her Majesty's Theatre, London on March 9, 1844 with the Ballerina Carlotta Grisi as Esmeralda, Jules Perrot as Gringoire, Arthur Saint-Leon as Phoebus, Adelaide Frassi as Fleur de Lys, and Antoine Louis Coulon as Quasimodo.

Today the ballet is presented in its full-length form only in certain parts of the world; Russia; parts of Eastern Europe; and New Jersey, United States. New Jersey Ballet introduced the full-length version for the first time in the United States in 2004. Outside of Russia, Eastern Europe and New Jersey only excerpts are given - the La Esmeralda Pas de Deux and the Pas de Six, but mostly the Diane and Actéon Pas de Deux is given, which in all actuality is not originally from the ballet (it is often miscredited as having been added by Petipa to his 1886 revival of La Esmeralda).

La Esmeralda based on the story of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME by Victor Hugo according to Wikipedia.

The story begins during the Renaissance in 1482, the day of the Festival of Fools in Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell ringer, is introduced by his crowning as Pope of Fools.

Esméralda, a beautiful 16-year-old gypsy with a kind and generous heart, captures the hearts of many men but especially Quasimodo’s adopted father, Claude Frollo. Frollo is torn between his lust and the rules of the church. He orders Quasimodo to get her. Quasimodo is caught and whipped and ordered to be tied down in the heat. Esméralda seeing his thirst, offers him water. It saves her, for she captures the heart of the hunchback.

She is later accused of the murder of Phoebus, whom Frollo tried to kill in jealousy, and is sentenced to death by hanging. Quasimodo saves her by bringing her to the cathedral under the law of sanctuary. Frollo rallies the truands (criminals of Paris) to charge the cathedral. The king, seeing the chaos, vetoes the law of sanctuary and commands his troops to take her out and kill her. When Quasimodo sees the truands, he assumes they are there to hurt Esméralda, so he drives them off. Frollo betrays Esméralda by handing her to the troops and watches while she is hanged. Quasimodo pushes him from Notre-Dame to his death. He then goes to Esméralda’s grave, lies next to her corpse and eventually dies of starvation. Two years later, excavationists find the skeletons of Esmeralda and Quasimodo locked in an embrace.

According to the Capital Arts Festival article of the Canadian Pacific Ballet

This classic ballet tells the story of the gypsy girl, Esmeralda, who consents to marry the poet Gringoire to save him from death at the hands of the Truands. She tells him, however, that she has married him out of pity, not love. She is desired by the evil priest, Frollo, who attempts to abduct her with the help of Quasimodo. She is saved by the arrival of Captain Phoebus and his troops. Frollo unnoticed by Phoebus, disappears and his troops capture Quasimodo. Esmeralda pleads for his release, and treats him with kindness and care. Esmeralda falls in love with Phoebus who gives her his mantle to keep.

Accompanied by Gringoire, her husband, she goes to dance at the celebrations of an engagement. Once at the festivities she finds that the celebration is for Phoebus who is engaged to be married to the beautiful and wealthy Fleur de Lys.

Phoebus, charmed by her, agrees to meet her later. Frollo spies upon the meeting between Phoebus and Esmeralda. Jealously he stabs Phoebus and then escapes, so that Esmeralda is arrested for the murder. Quasimodo intervenes and kidnaps Esmeralda, taking her to the towers of Notre Dame. Frollo finds her there and promises to save her life if she will marry him, but she refuses and he takes her to the gallows to be hung. As Esmeralda is hung, Phoebus, whose wound was not mortal, appears proving her innocence, but it is too late.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame -
Music from the Ballet Prelude
(The Cathedral of Notre Dame)
Act 1 (in 8 scenes)
Act 2 (in 8 scenes)
Act 3 (in 5 scenes)

-_____________- That was all I could find of the song structure.. After tedious research T.T, venturing into ballet groups, chatrooms, ballet articles, various Ballet Companies' websites I have still yet to find a decent summary of the BALLET production.. However there are a lot of hits on the film, operas and musicals of La Esmeralda or The Hunchback of Notre Dame. When one thinks of the ballet La Esmeralda one of course associates it with the tambourine dance.. The tambourine is the trademark of the dance and as i have witness on youtube, people get very upset and distressed in the absence of the tambourine in the Esmeralda variation.. So please contend yourself with the information that I have and enjoy the video and pictures.. =)

Eeeek!! A CICAK! O.O

OMFG! I just had to blog about this.. To release stress and tension.. Like wtf man??!! Just now as i opened my bedroom door and switched on the lights, SOMETHING FELL ON MY HEAD! O.O Luckily i was calm and and i tilt my head towards the ceiling so that whatever it was fell to the floor.. And Mei mei chased it.. O.O It was an effing CICAK! >.< Wtf.........

Yea soo I called Mei mei off; she was still desperately trying to catch it, chasing it all over my room; and walked downstairs.... Okay okay... I RAN.. And only after that i was in shock and mumbled and gibbered to my mum.. She was like " whaat??" And i turned around and asked her whether there's a bit of lizard tail still stuck on my hair.. xD And after telling her the whole story, she laughed at me.. -___- What kind of mother does this to her child?? T.T When the child is scared and shaking?? O.O Okay so i wasnt exactly scared nor shaking, but i was very shocked and i shiver everytime i think about that cicak.. Brrrr* Mum dismissed me with a wave of her hand and told me to be quiet, she was watching tv... -.-

So desperate to release some steam, i turned to my trusty blog.. I guess thats all I have to say really.. Just wanna let it out of my system.. x) Im soooo gonna go wash my hair now.. Later.

Ps: The cicak is still nowhere to be found.. O.O *YIKES!*

SWAN LAKE BY TCHAIKOVSKY

Since we are learning Swan Lake for our ballet concert somewhere in January, I decided to do some research and study what Swan Lake is all about.. The Synopsis of this ballet is actually very exciting.. And I cant wait to learn it! =D Woohooo!

_______________________________________________________

Swan Lake is generally presented in either four Acts, four Scenes (primarily outside Russia and Eastern Europe) or three Acts, four Scenes (primarily in Russia and Eastern Europe).

Act 1 - A magnificent park before a castle.

Swan Lake begins at a royal court. Prince Siegfried, heir to the kingdom, must declare a wife at his birthday ball. Upset that he cannot marry for love, Siegfried escapes into the forest at night. As he sees a flock of swans flying overhead, he sets off in pursuit.

Act 2 - A mountainous wild place, surrounded by forest. In the distance a lake, on the right side of which are ruins. A moonlit night.

Siegfried aims his crossbow at the swans and readies himself for their landing by the lakeside. When one comes into view, however, he stops. Before him is a beautiful creature dressed in white feathers, more woman than swan. Enamoured, the two dance and Siegfried learns that the swan maiden is the princess Odette. An evil sorcerer, von Rothbart, captured her and used his magic to turn Odette into a swan by day and woman by night.

A retinue of other captured swan-maidens attend Odette in the environs of Swan Lake, which was formed by the tears of her parents when she was kidnapped by von Rothbart. Once Siegfried knows her story, he takes great pity on her and falls in love. As he begins to swear his love to her - an act that will render the sorcerer's spell powerless - von Rothbart appears. Siegfried threatens to kill him but Odette intercedes. If von Rothbart dies before the spell is broken, it can never be undone.

Act 3 - An opulent hall in the castle.

The Prince returns to the castle to attend the ball. Von Rothbart arrives in disguise with his own daughter Odile, making her seem identical to Odette in all respects except that she wears black while Odette wears white. The prince mistakes her for Odette, dances with her, and proclaims to the court that he intends to make her his wife. Only a moment too late, Siegfried sees the real Odette and realizes his mistake. The method in which Odette appears varies: in some versions she arrives at the castle, while in other versions von Rothbart shows Siegfried a magical vision of her.

Act 4 - Same scene by the lake as in Act 2.

Siegfried returns to the lake and finds Odette, where she forgives him after he apologizes intensely. Von Rothbart appears, trying to pull the lovers apart. The two realize the spell can't be broken because of Siegfried's accidental pledge to Odile. In order to stay together, Odette and Siegfried drown themselves by leaping into the lake. This causes von Rothbart to lose his power over them, and he dies as a result.

Note: Many different endings exist, ranging from romantic to tragic:

In a version which has an ending very close to the original danced by American Ballet Theatre in 2005, Siegfried's mistaken pledge of fidelity to Odile consigns Odette to eternal swanhood. Realizing that her last moment of humanity is at hand, Odette commits suicide by throwing herself into the lake. The Prince does so as well. This act of sacrifice and love breaks von Rothbart's power, and he is destroyed. In the final tableau, the lovers are seen rising together to heaven in apotheosis.

In a version danced by the Mariinsky Ballet in 2006, the true love between Siegfried and Odette defeats von Rothbart, who dies after the prince breaks one of his wings. Odette is restored to human form to unite happily with the prince. This version has often been used by Russian and Chinese ballet companies.

In a version danced by New York City Ballet in 2006 (with choreography by Peter Martins after Lev Ivanov, Marius Petipa, and George Balanchine), the Prince's declaration that he wishes to marry Odile constitutes a betrayal that condemns Odette to remain a swan forever. Odette is called away into swan form, and Siegfried is left alone in grief as the curtain falls.

I wonder which song is the one for The Dying Swan.. =/ Im guessing its No. 27 of Act IV? Because Odette died in the end and im presuming The Dying Swan refers to her.. Lol.. Anyway be sure to watch this video of Swan Lake.. I think its the part where Prince Siegfried dances with Odile who resembles Odette at the time.. And the woman sitting at the back in the centre is the prince's mother.. The one in the cape and with the hooked nose is Von Rothbart.. (: Its very niceee.. =D WATCH! ^^

Seriously after reading the synopsis i actually understood what they were doing lol.. xD I always wondered why that white swan appeared on the screen.. HAHA.. Oh and here's a video of the Dance of the Little Swans or also known as Pas de Quarte of the little swans.. ;) Just because i love this scene.. :D

To Celine Tang Siu Wern: HELP! Its sooo fast!! x) Remember the steps? Try doing it with music.. =X

Okay thats all for this post.. All about Swan Lake.. :D I'll post up info on other ballet repertoires as well next time.. =D Oh and special thanks to Wikipedia.. Lol cuz i copy and paste their info.. =X xoxoxoxo

I have not been out of the house.. Therefore my life right now is like on the brink of non-existance.. More like on the brink of extinction.. T.T I said 'life' as in the general activity that one usually does throughout the day, throughout life.. I did not mean 'life' as in the measure of time you have left before you die.. So i sit at home trying desperately to find something to do to ensure my continuation of life. I am not going to watch it waste away. See look at me now.. Blogging about life and such.. -_________________- sigh... Wasting away....

I have been thinking of doing voluntary work for Zoo Negara.. =D But i dont wanna go alone on the first day.. lol.. Anyone care to join me? Im hoping to work at the reptiles section.. :D *jealous of Naz* xD Seriously i cant stand to exist like this.. Today i woke up at 8.. Went for addmaths tuition from 9 to 10.15 am. Came home.. One hell of a day and I loved every minute of it! =)

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! :D

Yesterday me and my girls went for prom dress hunting at Mid Valley megamall! =D And mission accomplished! ;) We each bought a dress and we had a blast! Jigglypuff was there too.. x) Got tortured more by maddie again.. -.- Ate burger king for lunch and maddie was acting retarded as usual.. This time out in public.. =.=

Fyi, the cap is Jigglypuff's.. -_- Oh and nissa was being retarded too.. -_____-

Good times good times.. =) Searched the whole mall, tried on some really expensive dresses just for fun x), and finally after hours and hours of painstaking searching we ended up at Jusco.. And that was where we bought our dresses.. -.- Nvm! They were really nice and affordable.. :D Plus, we had fun while searching.. =) Poor jigglypuff.. =/ Got dragged everywhere with us.. xD Oh poor thing.. :) Here's something to cheer you up!

How cute! =)

Embrys came all dressed up as an eskimo.. A tongu eskimo.. :D She's got them boots going on and that skirt which really reminded us of an eskimo.. Maddie wanted to greet her by rubbing noses.. -__- *no comments needed there* Turns out we all met up at the station wearing black.. We did not plan this! lol.. Even Jigglypuff wore black.. :D All in all it was a whole day of fun fun fun! =) Maddie and I went crazy and ran all over the mall.. Imitating Mr and Mrs Jigglypuff being lovey dovey, holding hands and sharing from the same cup.. lol.. We even hold hands and skipped everywhere.. x) I guess people must think we're nuts.. =P Here are the rest of the un-retarded pictures.. x)
